WHAT
EVEN IS THIS SITE?
This is a
"museum" of sorts for all types of GameCube scans, trivia, and
memorabilia. While there are numerous archives of this information online,
there weren't any websites devoted specifically to the GameCube, and even then
there are a few little tidbits and miscellaneous info that aren't
well-documented, so, as an almost lifelong GameCube fan, I have taken it upon
myself to create a hub of sorts for all this info, akin to the PlayStation Datacenter.
WHAT
TYPE OF INFO IS DOCUMENTED HERE?
Good question!
The information we aim to document and preserve includes:
- Every
game (and non-game disc) released for the Nintendo
GameCube.
- Release
and technical information on each game for each region it was released in.
- The
banners and Memory Card icons for each game (the aforementioned
stuff that isn't documented and I'm way too hyperfixated
on :P).
- Scans
of the front and back cover, spine, game disc, magazine ads, and links to the
manual, once again for each region.
- Screenshots.
- Relevant
videos such as trailers, commercials, cutscenes, and gameplay footage.
- Cheat
codes and secrets for each game, and a link to a walkthrough if available.
WHAT
ARE THE INFOBOXES ON EACH GAME PAGE FOR?
These give info
on the game's release, developer and publisher, and other information about
them. To elaborate:
- Other
titles (if applicable):
Any alternate titles the game was released under, usually translations to other
languages in that region, or, in the case of Japanese games, the original kanji
titles.
- Developer: The company that developed the game.
Some GameCube games are ports from other consoles that were done by different
teams - in those instances both the original development studio and the studio
responsible for the port will be listed.
- Publisher: The company that published and
distributed the game.
- Genre: The genre of the game (i.e. platform,
racing, RPG, sports)
- Release
date: The day the
game was released. Note that the exact date for certain games tend to vary by
source - for most of the release dates I'm going off of
what Wikipedia and MobyGames have listed.
- ESRB/CERO/PEGI/ELSP/ACB
(if applicable):
The rating the game was assigned by that region's
ratings board.
o ESRB:
The Entertainment Software Ratings Board, used in the USA, Canada, and (at the
time) Mexico.
o CERO:
The Computer Entertainment Rating Organization, used in Japan since 2002.
o ELSP: The European Leisure Software
Publishers Association, used in Europe prior to the formation of PEGI 2003.
o PEGI:
Pan-European Game Information, used in Europe since 2003, replacing the
previous ELSPA system.
o ACB: Australian Classification
Board, used in Australia.
- No.
of Players:
How many players the game supports.
- Supported
peripherals:
The peripherals and controllers the game is compatible with.
- Display
options: The native
display options used by the game.
- On
other consoles?: Shows what other consoles the game was released
for, if applicable.
- Relevant
links: A list of
links relevant to the game at hand, including, if applicable:
o An archive of the official website
o GameFAQs
o The Cutting Room Floor (TCRF),
which documents any unused content in the game
o Any other noteworthy
websites/forums/wikis dedicated to the game
- Official
description:
The official description, usually given on the back of the game's box or other
promotional blurbs.
- Other
information:
Miscellaneous trivia that may be of interest to you. ;)
- Supported
languages: Any language
options included in that regional variant of the game.
AND
THE "TECHNICAL INFORMATION"?
This is all the
data written to the game's image file. To elaborate:
- Internal
name: The internal
name of the disc image. Usually this is the same as the actual title, though it
can vary.
- Serial
code: The code used to indentify the game.
- Maker
code: The code for
the game's publisher. Dolphin Wiki has a
very helpful article about the GameCube's GameID
system.
- Apploader date: "Apploader"
is essentially the program/file used by the GameCube
to boot up the game. Most GameCube games have a date, presumably for when the apploader was last used before printing, usually in
YYYY/MM/DD format.
- System
BIOS information: All
the information displayed about the game on the GameCube main
menu.
o Game banner: The banner displayed on the
"Start Game" screen of the GameCube main menu.
o Name and Maker (short/long): The name of the
game and studio displayed on the GameCube main menu. The "short" name
is what's displayed on the main "cube" menu, while the
"long" name is displayed on the Start Game screen.
- Memory
Card information:
The information displayed on the save file in the Memory Card screen. The amount of files saved depends on the game: some use one save file for everything, others have save
files for individual profiles, while others use multiple separate files for
different things.
o Memory Card banner: The banner displayed on the save file.
In most games this is the same as the main banner, though some use slightly
different save banners, while some games that use multiple save files may have
different banners for each save, and some games don't use a banner at all.
o Memory Card icon: The icon displayed on the save file.
Usually (though not always) animated.
o Memory Card description: The description of the save file,
which usually includes the name of the game and some extra info on the save
that varies by game. Some common info included in these descriptions are the
name of the save file, the time and date it was last saved, the total time
played, the area the game was last saved, etc.
o Blocks: The amount of space the file takes up.
WHERE
DID YOU FIND ALL THIS STUFF?
Check the
Bibliography section for the resources I've used.
WILL
YOU INCLUDE WII GAMES?
Not at this
moment. Right now, this site is mainly focused on the
GameCube.
HEY,
YOU GOT SOMETHING WRONG! ARE YOU GONNA FIX IT?
If you notice a
mistake or have additional info about a game, please send me an e-mail. My
contact info is on the Contact page. Note that this site is a one-man project
done mainly for fun, so please be patient.
WHERE
CAN I FIND DOWNLOADS OF THESE GAMES?
For legal
reasons this site will NEVER host downloads of any of the games, nor will it
provide information on where to download them. Figure that out at your own
